The Solace System by Epica – song review

Since I started this blog I have been waiting for a moment when I could talk about this band in greater detail. If you know anything about me then you know that alongside Nightwish Epica has always been my #1 artist. So, let’s make little introduction for this amazing band called Epica

Epica is a Dutch symphonic metal band, founded by guitarist and vocalist Mark Jansen after his departure from After Forever. They have released seven albums so far and constantly improved with every released album. “The Holographic Principle” was my favorite album of last year and I had four Epica songs in my top 25 best songs of 2016. Click here for the top 25 list Actually, I had to put four songs per artist rule because without it I would end up with at least eight songs from that album on the list.

In 2017 Epica out of nowhere released single for upcoming EP called “The Solace System”. So is “The Solace System” any good?

After Laughter by Paramore – album review

Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro. While not a band member, Justin Meldal-Johnsen plays bass guitar on their most recent album.

The group released its debut album All We Know Is Falling in 2005, with the album reaching number eight on the UK Rock Chart and number thirty on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. While it only had a minimal commercial performance initially, the album and its lead single “Pressure” were eventually certified Gold by the RIAA after the success of the band’s later material. This album was pretty solid release if you ask me. Lot of really good songs like “All We Know”, “Pressure”, “Emergency”. If I had to choose my least favorite song from this album then it would be “My Heart”, but still solid track.

2 years later they released their breakthrough album which made them household name “Riot. Lead single “Misery Business” peaked at #26 on Billboard hot 100. The album is said to explore a “diverse range of styles,” while not straying far from the “signature sound” of their debut album. Honestly, on this album we see Paramore improving a lot. Both singing-wise and instrumental-wise. Hayley’s vocals are much more into your face and guitar parts are much more refined and better structured

In 2009, Paramore released their best album in my opinion, Brand New Eyes. This album is Paramore at its peak. Some of the best Paramore songs like “Ignorance”, “Careful”, “All I Wanted”, “Brick by Boring Brick” are on this album. This is not only my favorite Paramore album, this is one of my favorite albums of all time. Hayley’s vocal performance on this album is amazing, best of her career in my opinion. Guitar work of Josh Farro and Taylor York is even better than on Riot.

After Brand New Eyes Paramore went to other direction. With their self titled album which was released in 2013 they were looking to explore more poppier side of their sound. Two original members left the band before the recordings of this album. Brothers Josh and Zac Farro. Josh’s guitar parts were one of two reasons why I like Brand New Eyes so much and I guess him not being on this album was main reason why I liked it less than Brand New Eyes but still it is pretty solid album.

In 2017 Paramore came back with new album called After Laughter. So, how is it?

Tommy’s Planet by CrazyEightyEight – song review

Our favorite scene meme lord is back, but this time Jarrod teamed up with always amazing Lauren Babic from Canadian band Red Handed Denial which EP Wanderer I already reviewed. Long story short it is an amazing EP and I find myself coming back to that EP a lot.  Jarrod so far has released two independent full-length studio albums, Beating a Dead Horse and Friendville, both of which reached number one on the Billboard Top Comedy Albums chart. As of April 2017, his YouTube channel has amassed over 190,000 subscribers with more than 92 million total views. Honestly I was surprised when I saw that this is not parody song. So is “Tommy’s Planet” good?Jarrod.png

Harry Styles by Harry Styles – album review

Harry Edward Styles (born 1 February 1994)is an English singer and songwriter. He is known as a member of the pop boy band One Direction. He made his debut as a singer with his band White Eskimo, who performed locally in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. In 2010, Styles auditioned as a solo artist for the British television series The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Styles was brought back into the competition, along with four other contestants, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, to form One Direction.

I was never big fan of One Direction, but I have always had respect for them because I knew that they have talent and that they can do even better once they start their solo careers.  On April 7th Harry Styles released his debut single called “Sign Of The Times” and I was completely blown away. First I didn’t expect him to go this direction (no pun intended) and I was blown away how amazing song actually was. Definitely one of the best songs released this year.

Harry Styles released his debut album on May 12th, so was I blown away by the album just like I was blown away by the “Sign Of The Times”?

Young And Menace by Fall Out Boy – song review

Fall Out Boy is an American band pop rock band  formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

I like Fall Out Boy, but not as much as other people do. My biggest problem with them was always in their guitar sound. I don’t know why but I just don’t like their guitar sound at all.

So, they released new song that has no guitar at all(one guitar strum does not count) so I guess I should like it more than their other songs?
